I was listening to the show, and the whole idea of being in a rut hit home with me. Where I feel like instead of operating at my 110% level that I am know for I slip to a mere 90%. No new projects, disappointed with the support I get for fixing existing problems.
I am not sure how to get past this rut either but, I do feel like it is part of a process. A process that we all get through.
I too recognized a lot in what was said. I am just recently recovering from a low point in motivation.
I have come to the conclusion I need to change some stuff in my life. My job, my living environment. I am planning on moving to the UK, also to be with my girlfriend, so that should be more than enough change at once
Scary though, change. You kinda count on your cheese always being there.
I understand about the falling into a rut thing even though I am not in the industry. I find that working on things friends tends to get me out of the rut. It will spark some ideas of things that I would like to try so I would start a project of my own. Recently, I setup a server and some forum software to troubleshoot some database issues with MySQL.
I have never done anything like this before and now after helping with the situation (they moved to another webhost that had less problems with their MySQL servers) I want to learn more about MySQL and learn how to optimize databases for people.
I love the show and it’s very informative at times and when it’s something I have no knowledge about, you guys do something to make me laugh.
